Recipe Formulas

This is the most common type of wax formula. These formulas are called “recipe formulas” because they are very much like cooking recipes. Of all the formula types, they are the easiest to work with. These formulas are typically given as one pound of wax plus additives. To mix larger batches, just multiply each ingredient. Example:

  • 1 pound 140° F (60° C)
  • wax 1 teaspoon
  • 1 ounce scent oil
  • Dye to desired color

To make 4 pounds of this formula, simply multiply each ingredient by 4 to get:

  • 4 pounds 140° F (60° C)
  • wax 4 teaspoons
  • 4 ounce scent oil
  • Dye to desired color
